One Front the Soviets Won On in the First Cold War
The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, with the West generally accepted as the “winner,” but one area where the Russians succeeded was the information war. The Soviets were the absolute masters of disinformation and propaganda, going back to their Active Measures program. They essentially used western democracies to destroy themselves by weaponizing all the institutions of influence — schools, the media, Hollywood, and most recently Big Tech. They taught newer generations to hate their own countries and fear phantom existential threats like global cooling global warming climate change.
Specifically, this propaganda-created hysteria on climate change is much of the reason we’re in the mess we are today with gas prices and inflation. The United States and other western nations have hamstrung their own energy production because they don’t have the courage to face their base of citizens who’ve fallen hook, line, and sinker for the climate change hysteria. As with Covid, any scientist or politician who challenges the “science” is automatically attacked & ridiculed, and they often have their careers destroyed. Brutal tactics are used to make sure everyone sticks to the narrative, coincidentally, another specialty tactic of the Soviet Union.

11 Ways the Media Manipulates the Truth
I think you need to take one step UP from the “Soviets” when discussing who won. The Soviet Union, like every government on earth, is just the puppet of the masters. The assumption that the Soviets were behind all the propaganda that has undermined western civilization ignores the real possibility that all civilization was being undermined in every country, just in its own unique ways, by the same players everywhere (at the top). Whether they be called Soviets, Marxists, Communists, Socialists, Bolsheviks, or whatever, misses the point that freedom, liberty, independent thought, a sense of self-ownership, private property ownership, rule of law, etc. are all anathema to their power and control of the populace. The supposed “dichotomy” between “us” and “them” is what serves to distract attention from the real players controlling it all.
