Whatever other criticisms you might have of her, Ayn Rand was right on the money.
I hope I did not give any impression of criticism.
That was an awesome book.
Long, but for me a quick read.
I’ve been told one should read The Fountain Head first.
Wasn’t presupposing anything specifically. There are just a lot of critics of her ideas. I am one. She saw zero value in altruism, yet selflessly helping others can absolutely have tremendous value to the giver/helper….especially since all value is subjective.
There are times I simply give and times I require a service.
Also, times to cut the recipients off.
I have done all 3 as the circumstances required.
I recall in Atlas Shrugged at the hide out nothing was given, all had to earn their keep.
If all recipients of government hand outs had to provide some service the number getting said hand outs would quickly go down.
Let each county handle it and it would go down more.
Follow God’s Law where if a man does not work he does not eat and down it goes again.
God’s Law also requires us to take care of the widows who are widows indeed.
I’m told the personal income tax revenue pretty much matches the hand outs. It is not so much a tax as redistribution.
The rest of the government is run on debt.
Re Ayn Rand:
How many recognize these principles are even more clearly laid out in God’s Word?
I’ll give one example:
Habakkuk 1:4
“Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.”
