Random Thoughts of the Day

Just a quick note on the Republican McCarthy Speaker mess…You will undoubtedly see in the media how “far right” members held up the vote. Can you ever remember in your lifetime a single person in the mainstream media using the phrase “far left” to describe anyone? And if you detail the so-called far right positions without the distortions of a biased media, my guess is 70+ percent of America would agree with them. For example, one of the holdups was trying to put controls in to prevent the common practice of releasing 3000-page cryptic spending bills with only a day or two to vote. Is that really a radical right-wing position? Also note all the media belly aching about potential coming gridlock. Did they seem the least bit concerned that a Democratic House takeover was going to limit Trump’s agenda goals or cause gridlock?

If anything, with the current makeup of our government, the best thing that can happen is gridlock, which restricts their ability to pass new laws to further limit our freedom and f*ck up the country.

  1. “… common practice of releasing 3000-page cryptic spending bills with only a day or two to vote …”

(“Have to pass it to see what’s in it.”)

If each bill covered just one subject – it would make a heck of a difference.

    • The libertarian group “Downsize DC” has been lobbying quite hard for that provision in bills for many years now. I would like to hope that their efforts helped make this happen. Indeed, if every bill was required to be one subject, there would never be enough time in the year to destroy this country anywhere close to what they can achieve with these omnibus bills. An automatic sunset clause for EVERY BILL would be another great thing to see…but let’s see if any of this makes any difference first (not holding my breath). Government is still the greatest evil ever created by man. Some nice makeup and a few concessions aren’t going to fix that overnight.

      • “Downsize DC” is one I hadn’t heard about. I’m going to have to check them out. Thanks.

  2. The one downfall of memes is that they release tension, instead of directly calling for action.

Complaining online is basically political masterbation. You aren’t really building until you take some positive action.

So carefully forward a solid meme to someone who usually doesn’t see your stuff. Or text someone a comment and THEN the link as evidence or further thought.

Liberals want conservatives to become falsely satisfied with useless things.

  3. Just remember, when they say “dry January,” a “dry” martini is just one with little or no vermouth….so there’s always a way to stay “dry.” Cheers.

  4. Government is not in and of itself evil.
    Man is evil.
God ordained Government and His form, even the selection of officials, is laid out in the Old Testament Scriptures.
In the Book of Samuel we see man’s departure from God as King and replacing Him with sinful man and ultimately man’s law.

    • So True
I found an excellent sermon series on this as it applies to the US on a site I saw mentioned on this site, sermon audio.com.
      The title is
where we are and how we got here.

Basically the Church split because one side wanted to depart from God’s Law and the other did not.
After the Church split the country split and the side wanting to remain true to the Word was destroyed.
      Go figure.
