Never speak out against The Party! Never take sides against The Party! Never go against the latest gaslighting narrative! You know if a prominent Democrat is ever indicted, and the media actually covers it, that the person broke one of those rules. And if they can’t take you down through the legal system, they’ll use some other method to destroy you. This standard operating procedures is doubly effective–it takes out the offender, but more importantly, keeps all other Party members in line.
I often hear the argument about privacy and government spying, “If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about.” It should be obvious that this isn’t true. Virtually anything can be distorted, clipped, twisted, or even faked, if necessary. Government wants the ability to access every tiny shred of your data for only one reason — ammunition. In other words, blackmail material, or whatever can be used to destroy you reputation, wreck your business, take your money, or put you in jail.
The majority of national politicians are not as stupid or as incompetent as they appear (although plenty are). They’re simply compromised. That’s why you see traitors like Mike Johnson do complete 180 degree turns as soon as they get into powerful positions. It’s why Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Mitt Romney and so many others abandon their principles, or at least the ones the presented publicly for decades in office. Few people are like Trump and can withstand a lifetime of data-mined material, used to bombard you through their state-run media.
