A trade war between the U.S. and China hurts China 100 times more than the U.S., so why would China be stupid enough to engage in one rather than negotiate with Trump? It’s very simple–China is counting on the American mainstream media to tell only one side of the story and regularly lie & distort as they always do, causing the stock market to fall and Republicans to get hit with pressure to cave. China knows the media will not explain how China has been screwing over the U.S. on trade and stealing technology for decades. China knows the media will haul in a bunch of economists to explain free trade and how Trump is destroying the economy. Trump wants free trade, but that is not what we have. To understand this concept, imagine a simplified example where China has charged a 25 percent tariff on items while the U.S. has charged 0 for the same items. Obviously, this isn’t fair, so now Trump comes along and says we’re going to put a 25 percent tariff to make things even. The destroy-Trump media sees this and starts 24/7 news cycles screaming how Trump is against free trade and is starting a destructive trade war!!! Half the American public stays in ignorance, the media celebrate Trump falling approval numbers, and Chinese officials start their celebration dance.
