Some may ask, “What’s wrong with globalism? Why not try to build a united world of nations that solves all our problems?” First of all, one only need look at the corruption and futility of the United Nations and Europen Union. Do you think adding dozens more nations with billions more of people is going to make it better? Different cultures, different histories, different religions, etc.? Do you think basic human group psychology is just going to evaporate?
Second of all, look at every large scale example of history where totalitarians have tried to implement their vision of Utopia — Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Chavez, etc. Notice anything in common with them? It comes down to the fact that whenever you get into an “ends justify the means” mentality, you inevitably sacrifice your values and do unimaginable things. Although I wouldn’t compare them to meglomaniac rulers of the past — yet, just look what the liberals in America have become. In their quest to “save democracy” by keeping Trump out of office, they’ve stifled free speech, rigged the voting system, eroded immigration laws, used the IRS & justice system to attack political opponents, expanded presidential power with unconstitutional executive orders, demonized hundreds of millions of Americans….the list goes on and on.
It doesn’t help that most Utopian visionaries throughout history have been sociopaths, but even if you have the most intelligent & benevolent leaders, centrally ruled systems are always doomed to fail for two reasons. Number one, you’re taking billions of complex individual decisions from the masses and puttting them in the hands of just a few, who can’t possibly have all the information needed to make good choices and who pay no price for being wrong. Second of all, who takes over that massive central power when those great leaders are gone? Monarchies throughout history answer that question, as kingdoms have been passed down to heartless and idiotic princes.
Maybe every election wouldn’t be the “most important of our lives” if the government didn’t have such a staggering size and amount of power, and that’s from the consitutional republic system of America, originally designed to limit government. Imagine what a globalist system thrown together by a few arrogant, condescending, hypocritical, unelected leftists could do!
